FAQ

What is RumShaker?

It’s a handcrafted premium cocktail made with real tropical fruits, spices and a light white rum distilled in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

What category does RumShaker fall under?

RumShaker falls under the Ready to Drink (RTD) category but due to the large package format it’s commonly referred to as a Ready to Serve.

What are the flavors?

RumShaker comes in two flavors: Island Passion which is a passion fruit cocktail and Island Sunset which is a Caribbean style Sangria.

What makes Island Sunset Caribbean style?

It contains Caribbean rum and other tropical fruits like Passion Fruit.

What type of wine is in the Island Sunset?

We use red Muscadine wine made with grapes grown in South Georgia vineyards.

What size bottles can consumers buy RumShaker?

RumShaker comes in 1.75L plastic (PET) bottles with Pinch Grip technology for easy shaking.

Are there artificial flavors or sweeteners in RumShaker?

RumShaker is made with real fruits and natural flavors. No artificial flavors or preservatives are used. We use real sugar from sugar cane, the same plant source from where the rum is derived. We do not use artificial sweeteners or high fructose corn syrups.

What is the alcohol content?

RumShaker is 15% alcohol by volume and 30 proof.

Where is RumShaker made?

RumShaker is handcrafted and small-batched at the Distillery of Modern Art in Chamblee, Georgia.

Can RumShaker be mixed to make other cocktails?

Although RumShaker is primarily designed to serve over ice, it can be used as a mixer with other spirits like vodka and tequila. It can also be mixed with other juices, sodas and chasers

What’s the shelf life?

RumShaker must be refrigerated to extend its freshness up to one year before and after opening. Because it contains 15% alcohol, bacteria will not grow in the bottle and cause spoilage. The rum is a natural preservative.

Where is RumShaker sold?

RumShaker is available for sale at any package store, bar and restaurant with a liquor license. Today it’s sold in Georgia and Florida.

Can consumers order online?

It depends on the location. In Georgia, consumers can order via Uber Eats and DoorDash from select local package stores only. At this time out of state consumers cannot order online but that will change later in 2025 via our website.

What makes RumShaker different from other similar products?

Most spirits-based RTDs are made with or contain neutral spirits or Other Than Standard wine (OTS) and artificial/natural flavors and some juice and artificial colors. Many are mass-produced at high volumes with no handcrafting. RumShaker is handcrafted with real fruits and juices, rum distilled from sugar cane and other natural ingredients in small batches for maximum freshness in taste and aroma.

What’s the concept of the RumShaker brand?

We created RumShaker to help bars become more efficient in creating cocktails with faster service, more consistent drinks and easier workload, especially during peak hours.

How much does a bottle cost?

A bottle in package stores cost between $40 – $50. A typical RumShaker cocktail in restaurants cost between $12 – $18.

Why does it cost more than other Ready to Drink products?

RumShaker is one of the few brands that use a premium-grade distilled spirit as the alcohol based. Many popular RTD products are malt-based or use grain neutral spirits with lots of artificial ingredients. We decided to create a product that’s on the other end of the spectrum, using real natural fruits and other ingredients like spices and a distilled Caribbean rum. Those ingredients naturally cost more. We also handcraft each batch in small quantities with intimate attention to quality and the process. We do not industrialize our products on a mass production scale, and never will.

What type of restaurants will I most likely find RumShaker cocktails?

Look for RumShaker in brunch restaurants, lounges with outdoor seating, restaurants with large bars and a focus on cocktails.

Why is it called RumShaker?

It’s called RumShaker because Rum is the base spirit and you must shake it before pouring.

Why is there separation and sedimentation in the bottle?

We use real fruit puree and juices which are heavier than alcohol and tend to settle at the bottom. We also do not use any filters and chemicals to emulsify and stabilize the ingredients in order to maintain the natural integrity of the product.

Who created RumShaker?

RumShaker was created by Nigel Walwyn, the founder of Caribbean Smooth Beverages after some restaurants requested that we batch the top signature cocktails made from Ou-Oui! Passion Fruit Liqueur. They wanted an authentic Caribbean cocktail on the menu that would taste similar to the original liqueur.

How does RumShaker give back to the Caribbean community?

We use a specific rum from the Virgin Islands in our products. Every dollar of the excise taxes we pay the federal government to produce RumShaker goes back to the Virgin Islands government. Some of that money is used toward infrastructure improvements, disaster relief and other needs of the islands.
